When choosing a character for abilities like "Choose one character with 5000 or less BP on your opponent's front line and sideline it" which include the instruction to "choose" a character, this ability forces the player to place one card from their hand into their sideline as an additional cost in order to choose this character. The player may instead not pay and choose a different character. Or, if the option is allowed, they may choose zero characters. If they have no cards in their hand, this character cannot be chosen.

Resolve it in the order listed below.
1. Place any number of cards from your hand into your sideline. (You can choose 0 cards.)
2. Choose one character with BP within the range you can choose on your opponent's front line. The BP range of the character you can choose increases according to the number of cards you placed into your sideline in step 1.
3. If a chosen character will end up sidelined, decide if you will place a card from your hand into your sideline in addition.
4. If you did not place a card from your hand into your sideline in step 3, sideline the opponent's character you chose. If you did place a card from your hand into your sideline in step 3, place the opponent's character you chose into their removal area.
