About Banned/Restricted Cards
In UNION ARENA a deck can generally contain up to 4 copies of a card with the same card number. However, for decks used in authorized/official tournaments there may be some restrictions placed on the number of certain cards that can be in a deck.
- *Cards with the same card number and different illustrations are considered the same card.
About Selection, Notification, and Enforcement of Restrictions
- ・When a deck ends up deviating our actions will take into consideration many things such as win rates, tournament results, rate of appearance in tournaments (inclusion rate of a card in decks) and more as we want to see all the titles being enjoyed and keep the game going in a good direction.
- ・The “Restricted Cards” designated here may be released upon review as the game environment changes. Everyone’s understanding is appreciated.
- ・We will keep announcing these matters once reviewed at events, in the producer message, and official social media channels. When this page is updated we will also make a post on our official X account, etc.

Spear of Gaius
Using the purple Spear of Gaius deck from Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition, EVA-1-051 Asuka Shikinami Langley, in combination with EVA-1-033 Evangelion Test Type-01 (Spear of Gaius), can be played set to active, draw a card when played, then attack with 5000 BP. These two cards can also be added to the hand with EVA-1-053 AAA Wunder. Adding EVA-1-063 Spear of Gaius to the hand and playing multiple high BP characters in a single turn is an exceptionally potent strategy that affects the meta more strongly than we anticipated, and in our judgment this deck has an advantage against many other decks. The percentage of decks seen utilizing these two cards at events is higher than expected, and this deviates from Union Arena's primary objective of encouraging players to enjoy a variety of decks from various titles. Therefore, we are establishing a limit of one copy for each of these two cards.

The restriction on the following cards will be lifted.
Starting from November 22 (Sat), 2025 each card listed below may be included in decks freely—up to 4 copies per card—without any pairing restrictions.

After reviewing the current game environment, we have confirmed that using these cards together no longer presents a balance issue. Therefore, the restriction will be lifted.
